Experience
After serving in the Law Department of the City of Chicago as an Assistant Corporation Counsel and in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office Criminal Division as an Assistant State’s Attorney, Deborah joined Valentine Austriaco & Bueschel where her primary areas of practice include creditor’s rights, bankruptcy, internal investigations, and employment defense. Deborah regularly issues citations to discover assets, conducts citation examinations, and reviews financial documents and other individual or business documents to ascertain the assets of debtors in post judgment enforcement actions. Additionally, she protects the rights of creditors in bankruptcy proceedings by reviewing various types of documents, attending 341 creditor meetings, and litigating adversary proceedings. Deborah is also a trusted resource in investigations where she advises employers in determining whether claims are substantiated or not and whether alleged misconduct in the workplace is an isolated incident or part of a pattern. She also assists the firm’s clients in the defense of employment claims and engages in motion practice. Deborah is very comfortable in the courtroom and adept at thinking on her feet in fast-moving litigation, having tried more than forty cases to verdict.
